March Musings
March News
There is an old saying, “March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.” I don’t know if our weather is that predictable but at least March gives us hope that Spring may be around the corner.
It is hard to believe we all have been living with COVID for a year and I would venture to say the restrictions and challenges make us feel much more like lions than lambs.
I have been participating in a 16-week education forum sponsored by the Weitzman Institute (located in Middletown, CT.) and the University of New Mexico on COVID. Over 20 Connecticut nursing homes participate in this education and it is a great opportunity to share best practices, learn from experts about trends in pandemic management and consider what new opportunities may come from having gone through this year long experience.
If March does not go out like a lamb there are many bright spots ahead. We offered three vaccination clinics to both residents and staff. Everyone fared well with the vaccinations – only a few reports of soreness and ill effects.
On February 22nd we were able to reopen to indoor visits for residents and their families. Erika Potter has been doing a great job coordinating Facetime visits and window visits but the opportunity to finally come into the building is special.
As the weather warms, we look forward to visits and activities on our patio. As we look forward to Spring, stay tuned for news of events in which we are able to welcome you back to in-person visits.
